USCIS Announces Monitoring of Non-US Citizen Social Media Accounts


USCIS announced that effective immediately, USCIS will begin monitoring the social media accounts of non-US citizens to identify any activity associated with anti-semitic sentiments or support of designated terrorist groups.

USCIS Announces Work Permit Process for Eligible Hong Kong Residents


Hong Kong has Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) which grants Hong Kong residents protection from deportation until the status expires. Under DED, Eligible Hong Kong residents are permitted to obtain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) which allow them to work in the United States. Last week, USCIS posted additional information regarding the application for Hong Kong DED-related EADs.

South Sudan Faces Travel Restrictions and Visa Revocations 



A press statement was released announcing plans to revoke all visas of citizens of South Sudan and implement travel restrictions to block their entry into the United States. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this plan based on the African country's decision to refuse repatriated individuals. South Sudan denies this accusation as a misunderstanding.

International Student Files Lawsuit over SEVIS Termination


An international student in California whose SEVIS was terminated has just filed a lawsuit against Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and ICE Director Todd Lyons. This lawsuit is brought due to the claim that the student's SEVIS record termination violates the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment and the Administrative Procedure Act.
